My name is Gonzalo Astray, and this is my personal website, where I will gradually upload content related to my professional activities within the Agricultural and Food Research Group (AA1) and the Faculty of Science in Ourense.

Over the past sixteen years, my research has focused on the application of machine learning techniques and the study of bioactive compounds. We have employed machine learning to predict microplastic adsorption and to optimize the extraction of polyphenols. Furthermore, we have evaluated various machine learning models for reservoir outflow forecasting and solar irradiation estimation.

In the field of food chemistry, our work includes the exploration of cyclodextrin inclusion complexes, the valorization of olive oil by-products for use in functional foods or fruit extracts, and the application of biomolecules in crop protection strategies and the development of low-salt meat products, among other initiatives.

This website will feature detailed information on the publications derived from my research activities. It will also include various Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis projectss opportunities. Finally, special issues of scientific journals  in which I act as guest editor will be presented here.
