Special issues currently in progress

In recent years, I have had the opportunity to serve as a guest editor for several special issues of scientific journals, working closely with researchers from different countries and fields. My role has included defining the thematic scope, inviting authors, coordinating the peer-review process, and ensuring that each issue features high-quality and relevant contributions. These projects have focused on areas with significant growth potential, such as the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in agriculture and hydrology.

The special issue Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture brought together studies on the use of AI and machine learning across the entire agri-food production cycle, from production and harvesting to processing, preservation, marketing, and waste treatment. Methodologies featured include neural networks, support vector machines, random forest, and deep learning.

In the field of water resources, Volumes I and II of “The Application of Artificial Intelligence in Hydrology” compiled research on water supply optimization, flood and drought prediction, water quality monitoring, irrigation and dam management, carbonate saturation assessment, sedimentation evaluation, and contaminant transport modeling.

These special issues highlight the transformative role of AI and machine learning in the sustainable management of natural resources and in addressing global environmental challenges, consolidating their scientific and technological relevance.
